Position Summary:
Responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual development of each child enrolled in the classroom in accordance with Environmental Rating Scales, NAEYC best practice standards and the policies and procedures of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Preschool Director and in collaboration with your Teaching Team.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support the mission, philosophy, core values and principles of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Collaborate with the Classroom Team in the following areas:  development of weekly lesson plans, children’s progress, classroom needs/concerns/barriers, goals and objectives, upcoming events, Indoor & Outdoor Learning Environments, daily tasks and duties.
  • Meet with the Preschool Director and/or the Administrative Team to routinely review curriculum plans, activities, children’s progress, classroom team dynamics, concerns, successes, supply needs, Indoor & Outdoor environments.
  • Responsible for the implementation of program standards established by ITERS/ECERS/SACERS rating scales to maintain a high star rating at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining all laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines in accordance with all regulatory agencies, The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Responsible for developmentally appropriate and individually appropriate activities and standards for students.
  • Responsible for assisting with professional screenings and referrals of children as the need arises.
  • Responsible for maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning.
  • Responsible for recording necessary documentation for your classroom that satisfies all regulatory standards and The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for working with professionals to fully implement an IEP for any child with disabilities.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training provided at the school.
  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff, co-workers, families, and children.
  • Responsible for holding parent-teacher conferences, as requested, with a member of the Administrative Team.
  • Help maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is safe, fosters hands on exploitative learning, aesthetically pleasing, engaging for your children, and respectful of other ministries of Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to your classroom team (teachers, substitutes).
  • Obtain the necessary professional development training required each year in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Preschool Director in providing orientation and training for new staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
  • Set up and maintain a well-organized, safe, attractive indoor and outdoor learning environment conducive to optimal growth and learning.
  • Develop positive relationships with your classroom team, families, and students.
  • Help parents understand the curriculum, best practice methods, school policies and operating practices.
  • Maintain all required reports (ex attendance, transition rosters, injury reports, etc).
  • Conduct yourself in a professional Christ-like manner at all times.
  • Responsible for ministering to children and families as the need arises reporting significant ministry concerns to the Preschool Director, Administrative Team or Pastor.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate Christian values that support the goals and objectives of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in an Early Education setting.
  • Ability to relate positively with young children, parents, and staff.
  • Strong working knowledge of Environmental Rating Scales, NCDCDEE regulations.
  • Preferred knowledge in Abeka Curriculum.
  • Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
  • Effective and strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work successfully with community based agencies.
  • Demonstrate supervision skills.

Physical Capabilities:
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
  • Spend time outdoors daily in all seasons of weather.
