Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of each child enrolled in the classroom in accordance with Environmental Rating Scales and NAEYC best practice standards and the policies and procedures of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Lead Teacher and Preschool Director.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support the mission, philosophy, core values and objectives of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program of activities based on best practice principles of child development in accordance with the school’s philosophy and curriculum.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and compliance with all regulatory standards and maintaining a high star rating.
  • Participate in staff meetings, center activities, and staff development.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in reviewing the progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child’s optimal growth and developmental progress.
  • Obtain the necessary professional development training required each year in a timely manner.
  • Help maintain an indoor and outdoor environment that is safe, fosters hands on exploitative learning, aesthetically pleasing, engaging for your children, respectful of other ministries of Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and support to your classroom team (teachers, substitutes).
  • Assist with daily health and sanitation expectations for all routine care needs.
  • Assist the Preschool Director in providing orientation and training for new staff, substitutes, and volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, families, and children and church staff.
  • Observe each child daily to assess skills, interest, needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in completing routine reports to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and the policies and procedures of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church (Incident Reports, Medication Forms, Sleep Charts, Etc).
  • Responsible for assisting the Administrative Team and the Lead Teacher in implementing Parent Involvement Activities.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional Christ-like manner at all times.
  • Responsible for ministering to children and families as the need arises reporting significant ministry concerns to the Preschool Director, Administrative Team or Pastor.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate Christian values that support the goals and objectives of The Academy at Englewood Baptist Church and Englewood Baptist Church.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Early Childhood classroom setting.
  • Ability to relate positively with young children, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrate success in working as a member of a team.
  • Effective and strong communication skills both oral and written.

Physical Capabilities:
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.
  • Spend time outdoors daily in all seasons of weather.
